FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

(Q)…. Can we purchase fragrances without sampling?

(A)…. Yes, but Wholeton Scent do not accept returns because our perfume oils are sold in roll on bottles secured in tamper proof poly sealed packaging. Once a product has been bought and use, we cannot sell that product to another customer. We wouldn’t be able to tell if the product had been contaminated. We will never sell a product that we would not consider safe.

(Q)…. Are your fragrances synthetic or natural?

(A)…. Fragrances are made up of natural and synthetic ingredients.
Natural ingredients don’t last as long as synthetic materials. The natural materials will start to smell different after a few months. This shortens the shelf life of a product. The synthetic materials are made mostly from natural materials but just processed further. Our supplier believes that the combination of both make superior fragrance.

(Q)…. Are your fragrances exact copies of designer’s fragrance … and if so, what’s about copyright laws?

(A)….. Wholeton Scents do not claim its Perfume Body Oils to be exact copies of designer’s fragrance. References are made only to convey closeness of aroma. Remember, our product is 100% Perfume Body Oils. In addition SCENTS CANNOT BE PATENTED OR COPYRIGHTED. International courts have held that a scent is something that belongs to nature and not to any individual- for example, there is no possibility of patenting the scent of an apple or mango. Therefore, a manufacturer cannot prevent someone else from matching or improving an aroma in part or as a whole. But the name and packaging can be copyrighted and thus prohibits anyone from using these features. As long as a disclaimer is presented explaining that the product is not the original perfume or cologne, it is one hundred percent legal to copy a scent. This is why one must emphasize that it is a perfume oil version of a designer scent, followed by the words “inspired by” or “type”. It is also essential to include a disclaimer explaining that the name(s) are trademarked and belong to the original manufacturer.

(Q).... Is there a proper way of applying perfume oil to the body?

(A).... There are no hard-and-fast rule for applying perfume oil to the body, but there are a few points that can be borne in mind. For example, perfume in general works best after taking a bath or shower. Perfume oil is normally applied to the skin with hands, but it is best to use our roller ball applicator in which our oils are sold. Using bare hands can result in an overpowering smell on hands. With the roller ball applicator, gently apply the oil on the skin. Give your skin time to absorb the oil so that it assimilates and become one with the oil. Since Perfume is composed of notes, after fifteen minutes or so the oil should begin to blossom into its settle scent. Applying perfume oil directly to the skin instead of over the clothing will let the body heat gently disperse the scents over time. But for immediate effect and top-ups, oil can be applied lightly at the neck or over the wrists and forearms.
